‘Emily’ was our best broodmare and top producer for the farm. She gave us multiple competitors in the show ring, two approved sons, a premium daughter and is the grandmother of an approved son. She was a beautiful mare with wonderful gaits, a beautiful presence and very good conformation. She earned premium status with the AHHA at only two years old and was named site reserve champion. She competed in dressage and dabbled in jumping in between having foals. She is the mare that we will continue to try to make proud through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sire, Merano, was a direct descendent of the thoroughbred improvement sire Marlon who was brought into the Holsteiner breed to add lightness and athleticism. Marlon in his years at the Verband, was a top producer of event horses but was also known to produce dressage and jumping horses. On the dam’s side, Emily was out of a mare by Welt As who sired the Olympic dressage horse Bonfire. Bonfire competed in 3 Olympic Games winning medals in all including an individual gold in 2000. Welt As’ maternal grandsire is the very famous stallion Furioso II who produced many international dressage and jumping horses. Furioso II is the sire of the two great international jumpers and sires For Pleasure and Voltaire. We were very proud to have this mare in our program and will always be grateful for all the horses she gave us. She is one of the ones who started it all and we are proud to carry on her legacy.
