Thistle is out of our farm matriarch, Evening Primrose. She is one of only two fillies that Emily ever produced. She is also proving to be a very good successor to her mother having already produced an approved son. She is a beautiful mare with very good conformation and three very good gaits. Thistle was started under saddle but was never aimed towards a career in the show ring due to her value as a broodmare. She is a premium mare with the AHHA, earning straight 8’s for her jumping. Her sire, Contendor, competed internationally in the jumpers before his retirement. He comes from a long line of Hanoverian’s who were known as great producers of jumpers and dressage horses. Her dam’s side is known for producing international horses competing in all the Olympic disciplines. The M-line has produced Olympic contenders in Dressage, Jumping and Eventing. Also on the dam’s side is Furioso II and Welt As who produced 3 time Olympic medalist in dressage, Bonfire. Furioso II is responsible for producing the incomparable stallions For Pleasure and Voltaire. Thistle is producing horses suitable for the hunters, jumpers and dressage. We are very excited to have her in our broodmare band and to carry on the lines that we began 30 years ago.
